What is domestic retrofit?

Retrofitting is improving an existing building to increase energy efficiency and reduce waste.

Understanding retrofitting basics can help open career choices such as becoming a solar panel installer, retrofit coordinator, and electric vehicle charge point (EVCP) installer.

What to Expect – Course Outline

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 10am – 2pm

• Enrolment and induction
• Jargon busting
• Introducing the key concepts of retrofitting
• Health and Safety
• Domestic retrofit materials and processes
• Overview of installation methods for walls, roofs, floors, windows and doors

Week 2: Monday to Friday, 10am – 2pm

• Awards, CSCS and online test module preparation
• Modern construction methods modules
• Industry talks from various building experts on retrofit, new technologies, waste management and recycling

Eligibility and Delivery

The course is open to all Islington residents and a few Camden residents. Open to all ages and genders – we strongly encourage female applicants.
