The filming crew came to meet the Islington cohort of the🧵Make and Mend✂️programme.
The skills programme, run by #peabodycommunityfoundation‘s long-time partner Kundakala, provides sewing and tailoring skills and enterprise support to ethnic minority women with a view of boosting their confidence, reduce social isolation and supporting them to be more financially resilient.
The programme, which counts 10 Islington women, including 3 Peabody residents, was funded by the #communityinvestment and #economicinclusion teams and is hosted at the Green Skills Hub on our Islington development site, Holloway Park.
What is the Green Skills Hub? The Hub is a temporary on-site skills hub/classroom where Peabody, London Square and Islington Council are teaming up to provide employment, skills and enterprise support for those living and working in Islington, with a focus on developing and encouraging green careers. Since March 2024, we supported 100+ local residents with employability and career information sessions and 150+ accredited and non-accredited qualifications were delivered.
We’re looking forward to see the final cut on BBC London and BBC London radio channels!
