In May, the Holloway Park team joined around 250 residents at St Mary’s Church for an event planned by Residents Without Borders—a day of connection, conversation, and community.

The event kicked off with inspiring case studies from Islington Access Hubs, who support residents with wellbeing, housing, work, and money matters. Newly elected Mayor Jason Jackson then gave a heartfelt speech about listening to and amplifying the voices of Islington residents.

After a few quick photos, the right honourable Jeremy Corbyn MP spoke on a variety of issues across Islington. He noted that the issue with housing wasn’t the fault of councils, or housing associations, but is part of a wider housing crisis which we are all aware of, and that developments like at Holloway Park and Archway present opportunities as well as concerns.

After a quick break (and some cake!), it was Peabody’s turn. Tom Williamson, Project Director shared Peabody’s history and development experience, before Becky Leaman, Senior Project Manager at Holloway Park, gave an update on the 900+ new homes being built there. Her presentation sparked lots of great questions from residents.

Cecile Bouchet, Economic Inclusion Lead then gave a quick tour of our Women in Construction and Green Skills Hub initiatives, highlighting success stories of local women now working on-site at Holloway Park.

After lunch, courtesy of Residents Without Borders, Bonny Parker and Sarah Morton from Peabody’s Community Peabody Foundation shared the exciting news that the Islington-based Calcott Community Centre will reopen soon after two years (30b Cathcart Hill
London, N19 5QN). The day wrapped up with talks from Islington Giving and Help on Your Doorstep, two brilliant organisations and Peabody’s partners.
