Kew Gardens have been collaborating with Peabody on the Holloway Park development on our plans for the public park and our green spaces. As part of this partnership a group of local people have been to visit Kew Gardens for a workshop on horticulture. The group comprised of Horticulture students from Beacon High School together with volunteers from the Octopus plant nursery.
This group met the gardeners at Kew to get advice on pollination and other gardening tips together with learning a bit about the history and work of Kew. There was lots to see in the walk around Kew as the spring flowers were coming out and an informative good time was had by all which included the students visit to the Treetop Walkway. Their course leader said ‘’Our visit to Kew Gardens was truly a day of discovery, learning and wonder. Students took so much from the visit and were all left keen to return and explore the gardens, and learn more about the world of plants, again in the future.” A longer write up will feature in their school newsletter which can be read here.
To continue this partnership with the Tufnell Park community, Kew will be coming to meet this group in July in Islington to give more advice on growing at the plant nursery here in Islington.
