Work Experience for local students at Holloway Park

Recently at Holloway Park we were asked to provide a programme of work experience for 5 local students, 4 of which are year 10 students at Beacon High School.

The younger students spent there week at Holloway Park learning about various elements of construction, and also about Peabody and London Square. This gave them the opportunity for a couple of visits onto the construction site to see the blocks during the building stage. They were able to go up in the hoist to the top of the buildings and to see across the local area from this viewpoint while learning about the variety of trades working here.

These students were able to speak to site staff over the week with very varied job roles as well as to learn about Health and Safety and to have a go at the challenge of designing public realm spaces. There was the chance to talk about planning C.V.s and what they might like to aim for in their future careers. On their final day they even got some hands on experience with the site handyman who was able to show them the tools he was using  and they were able to try them out.

Our students enjoyed their time here and we hope to see some of them again, possibly as new apprentices in the future.
